Why ZRM+ is set to become the new standard
Low glare is becoming a key factor in the acceptance of photovoltaics in urban areas. With the launch of the ZRM+ surface for framed solar modules and the building-integrated PV system LEVEL Up, we are addressing the increasing demands regarding glare.

What does ZRM+ stand for?
ZRM+ stands for ZeroReflect Matt+ – a microscopically textured glass surface that diffuses light rays rather than reflecting them back in a concentrated beam. The relevance of this technology is evident in the approval process: whilst conventional solar glass often requires glare assessments, Megasol provides a certificate from the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) for its ZRM+ product lines. The BFH independently tested the technology in 2025 and confirmed its ‘very low-glare’ properties. Luminance levels range from 3,000 to 18,000 cd/m² across all practical angles of incidence – well below the recognised guideline value of 20,000 cd/m². Glare and performance
The matt glass structure makes ZRM+ the first choice where reflections are a nuisance: in densely populated residential areas, along transport routes or near airports. At the same time, it creates a velvety, homogeneous appearance that makes the cell structure recede into the background. The most common objection to matt surfaces: does it reduce yield? No – efficiency is only minimally affected compared to conventional solar glass.
M460 ZRM+ high-performance module
For rooftop installations, Megasol offers the M460 ZRM+. This framed, all-black module delivers 460 Wp and is primarily designed for projects in sensitive areas such as residential neighbourhoods or near airports. The BFH report generally eliminates the need for costly, project-specific glare assessments.
Power: 460 Wp
Surface: ZRM+, BFH-certified
Hail resistance: HW5 (50 mm)
Bifaciality: 30% higher yield
Warranty: Swiss product warranty, 30-year power output warranty
Fire protection: Class B – s1, d0
Mounting: LOCKUP Roof, LOCKUP Flatport, LOCKIN
LEVEL Up ZRM+ roof integrated and facade system
The latest version of the LEVEL Up brings ZRM+ to fully integrated photovoltaic systems. The frameless glass-on-glass modules, with their overlapping, interlocking design, replace the roof covering and can also be used on facades.
Power: Over 200 Wp/m²
Surface: ZRM+, BFH-certified
Mounting: 12 m² per person-hour
Hail resistance: HW5 (50 mm)
Lifespan: Up to 50 years, 35-year performance guarantee
Fire protection: BROOF(t1) and BROOF(t2)
Transition rails to other roof coverings, snow guards, single anchor points, lightning protection hooks, verge rails and VELUX compatibility make LEVEL Up the complete solution for any roof.
Tip for installers
Does blendtool.ch indicate a critical glare duration? The M460 ZRM+ provides the technical assurance of legally compliant operation – you can use the BFH report directly in the licensing process.
Conclusion
ZRM+ makes solar possible where others give up: whether it’s strict planning regulations, safety concerns or critical neighbours – our technology solves real planning problems without compromising on performance or aesthetics. With the Megasol M460 ZRM+ for rooftop installations and the Megasol LEVEL Up ZRM+ as a building-integrated solution, we offer two sophisticated systems that make photovoltaics feasible even in sensitive areas. Our experts will be happy to advise you on implementation.
