Megasol launches Switzerland's most powerful and attractive solar module: M490
Deitingen, 10 July 2025 – Megasol Energy Ltd. is launching the M490, a solar module that sets new standards in photovoltaics: 490 Wp output, 240 Wp/m² output per square metre, 30-year warranty – and all this with an aesthetic design that opens up new possibilities in architecture. The M490 is the world's first module to combine RearCon module technology with highly efficient HiR cell technology.
World first: RearCon meets HIR
With the M490, Megasol combines two technologies that have never before been combined in a single product. The RearCon technology, in which all visible contacts are moved to the rear of the module, enables a completely black, visually unobstructed surface. In combination with HiR cells, this creates a module that sets new standards in both performance and design.

With a nominal output of 490 Wp and a power output per square metre of 240 Wp/m² (without bifacial effect), the M490 achieves an unprecedented efficiency rating of 24%.
By comparison, the market average is 220–225 Wp/m², with an efficiency of 21–23%. - High reliability
The M490 is certified with hail resistance 5 (HW5) – the highest rating available in the industry.
By comparison, most modules only achieve HW3 or HW4. - Longest warranty on the market

For comparison: 12–25 years is standard for the market. - Unparalleled aesthetics
The M490 is a completely black module. The cell matrix and busbars are integrated on the rear side – for a flawless front view.

The M490 is a glass-glass module with bifacial cells – for additional energy gains from rear irradiation.
